Initially Phil Salt was very aggressive.  The prediction went to a 350,400 score based on his strike rate. The opening partnership was 75 runs between Phil Salt and Ben Duckett. Unfortunately Phil Salt got run out. After this it was like one brings two, two brings three. England lost 3 wickets in the last 2 overs of powerplay. Initial 8 overs was aggressive and  the score was 75/0. They would have taken a match to the extreme level. After Phil Salt got out, England lost 3 wickets consecutively.
Run out of Phil Salt was unexpected. It was acceptable to Phil Salt. Phil Salt was trying for 3 runs and Ben Duckett stood at 2 runs. Phil Salt kept running towards the 3rd run and Ben Duckett didn’t . This made Phil Salt run out.
Ben Duckett felt unhappy for the run out of Phil Salt. He started to play aggressively. And he gave his wicket to Harshit Rana. It was not an easy catch for Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswar ran behind and took the catch.
Harry Brook got dugout though it was not wicket taking the ball from Harshit Rana. KL Rahul took an easy catch and sent  Harry Brook with 0 score.
It was a tragedy, both Phil Salt and Harry Brook themselves gave wickets and it was totally like a soft dismissal.
Joe Root was selected for the ODI series, losing his wicket at just 19 runs. There was high confidence that Joe Root may stabilize the game with Joss Buttler ,but got LBW to Ravindra Jadeja.
Joss Buttler and Jacob Bethel built an excellent partnership. Both of them scored half a century. Jacob Bethel got a record of  English youngster to score 50+ runs in India. Joss Buttler dismissed at 52 and Jacob Bethel at 51.
No other players have played better. All the players are out with a soft dismissal.
England scored a total of 248/10 runs for  47.4 overs and gave a target of 249 in 50 overs to chase.
The average score in VCA stadium, Nagpur has an average score of 230-260. The same pattern has continued in the first ODI.
Coming to the bowling of India. Harshit Rana who became very expensive in powerplay and stabilized later overs he got a total of 3 wickets for 53 runs. It was crazy comeback and initial breakthroughs are from Harshit Rana.
Harshit Rana’s name is not listed in the Champions trophy squad. It remains a question in every Indian why Harshit Rana is playing an ODI series against England. There might be a chance of selecting Harshit Rana in the final squad list. His performance was good initially he was expensive and a good comeback.
Ravindra Jadeja too bowled excellently with economical bowling and took 3 wickets for 26 runs. M Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, A patel took each wicket with economical bowling.
The target for India is 249 runs in 50 overs. We all  know that the majority of the matches are won by the chasing team in the VCA stadium. If we analyse the stats, it clearly says what’s happening in the stadium, what pattern, which team is more likely to win. When England won the toss and chose batting, England lost for the first time and the second time the unexpected dismissal of Phil Salt.
Powerplay was accelerated to an extreme level by Phil Salt. When Phil Salt got run out, England lost for the second time. Here is the scorecard

While chasing India has lost two wickets in the early phase. Yashaswi Jaiswal went for 15 and Rohit Sharma at just 6 runs. Rohit Sharma tried for a big shot and went to catch out within a 30 yard circle. Even in the Ranji trophy Rohit got out in the same manner. There is a weakness appearing in Rohit Sharma. He is getting out at full hit and getting caught within a 30 yard circle.
What a performance by Shreyas Iyer and Shubhman Gill. Shreyas Iyer utilized well and hit back to back sixed to Jofra Archer. Shreyas player a like T20, got his fifty around 30 balls. Stand was given by Shubhman Gill and helped in building partnership. After losing openers wickets, these two players stabilized innings.
Axar Patel came at very early . He came before KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. He might have come early just to maintain left hand and right hand combination. He scored a massive fifty at the right time. And maintained a  well partnership with Shubhman.
KL Rahul got dismissed at at an early stage. No runs came from his bat .
Jadeja and Hardik Pandya ended the game by a successful chase. The matter is Shubhman Gill was in the intention to get a century, but unlucky. He got dismissed at 87 runs.
India became successful in chasing against India. They chased at 38.4 with the loss of six wickets. We can say 248 is not a enough target to India. India would have chased if the score 350+. No players in Indian team played aggressively.
