India versus England 3rd ODI post match analysis.

Welcome to the post match analysis of India versus England 3rd ODI. India whitewashed England by winning 3rd ODI and won the series 3-0. India won all the three ODI matches against England with huge domination.

Why did England lose against India? What was the reason? What made India beat England with a huge difference? The following is the reason for these questions.

We all thought that there would be a variation at least in the 3rd ODI. England lost the 3rd ODI too, with the same pattern as the 1st and 2nd ODIs. There was no craze, no thrill in the series at all. It was a 142 run margin victory to India in the 3rd ODI. It’s more like victory to India against some associative nation.

There was no fight, no intention of winning in England’s team. But why? Is England planning a different strategy? Recently, Ben Duckett has given a statement regarding losing matches against India.
” If we lose 3-0 to India. I don’t care as long as we beat them in the champions trophy final”

According to Ben Duckett, if they win against India in the Champions trophy final or semi final it’s more equal than losing against India in the ODI series. The impact will be more rather than equal.

The statement by Ben Duckett is totally funny. It looks like England’s funny planning. Losing all the matches in series against India and winning the final or semi-final against India in the Champions trophy. It’s like they came here to lose all the matches. The official statement has to be made that England is losing matches intentionally.

The dismissal pattern for most of the England batters is similar. All got dismissed by bold or edge. Almost 5-6 players are dismissed with the same pattern of bold.

Post match analysis India versus England

The match took place in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. England won the toss and chose to bowl.

In the 1st and 2nd ODI England opted for batting. But in the 3rd ODI it was unlike, England opted for bowling first. England won a toss in all the three matches. This time England came with different decisions. The ground pitch was neutral, as the stats favoured both batting and bowling. England would have chosen rather than bowling this time.

India came for the batting first and scored 358 runs with the loss of 10 wickets. The opening was done by Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill which was usual. In the second over first ball Rohit got dismissed for 1 by Mark Wood . In the second match Rohit Sharma scored a century and in the 3rd match he got dismissed for just 1 run. As Rohit said previously, he always comes to the ground with good intentions. So the matches are at peak level and some will be at very low.

What a partnership between Virat Kohli and Shubhman Gill? No word about Shubhman Gill. He was consistent in all the 3 ODI matches. He became the fastest run getter. For 2500 runs Shubhman Gill is the fastest run getter in the world. The only person who completed this milestone in 15 innings.

Virat Kohli scored 52 with a strike rate of 94.55. After a long time, the king is back. In fact Virat had to dismiss early but got missed for LBW which had a pitch outside. Virat Kohli got out with the same pattern as in the 2nd ODI. Adil Rashid dismissed Virat with the same pattern in both 2nd and 3rd ODIs. Virat Kohli might regret these dismissals. The pleasure thing is that the half century came from his bat.

The middle overs are efficiently used by Shubhman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli. Shreyas Iyer and Shubhman Gill built a valued partnership in middle overs. These players pushed runs straight away.

Shreyas Iyer scored 78 runs from 64 balls with a strike rate of 121.88. Shreyas Iyer and Shubhman Gill were consistent in all the three ODIs. Shreyas Iyer played his game like a T20.

When it comes to consistency we have to appreciate Shreyas Iyer. In the previous match it was an unfortunate dismissal and this match too. He ran out at 42 in the previous match. Unfortunately, he was dismissed by Adil Rashid though it was not a wicket taking the ball. When compared to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Shubhman Gill and Shreyas Iyer showed heavy consistency in ODI formats.

After two matches KL Rahul came in 5th position. He scored 40 runs with a strike rate of 132+. He came in the lower middle overs and returned to his form to an extent.

Other small contributions came from other Indian players. Hardik Pandya was dismissed by Adil Rashid. We can say ‘ball of the day’. The dismissal of Hardik Pandya by Adil Rashid is at an extreme level.

The prediction score was beyond 400 at the time of Shreyas Iyer batting. Due to loss of consecutive wickets, the overall score came down to 358. It’s a huge target for England.

Coming to England’s bowling , Adil Rashid played well in the 3rd ODI. He took 4 wickets with an economy of 6.40. M Wood has taken 2 wickets . And each wicket to J Root, G Atkinson, and S Mahmood.

The target for England is 359 in 59 overs. It’s a huge target to chase to win over India

In the beginning, England utilized well in powerplay and later drastically dropped down. In the first 5 overs Ben Duckett and Phil Salt gave a good contribution. Everyone thought that match would go somewhere after seeing Ben Duckett’s batting. It was like T20. He was playing with an intention to hit the century within powerplay.

After Ben Duckett got out, Phil Salt also got dismissed immediately. It looks like a strategy for England of both openers getting out back to back.

Tom Banton is a new player and was selected for the 3rd ODI. He played well. He scored 38 runs from 41 balls. He got out because of the edge after taking DRS.

Joe Root, Joss Buttler, Adil Rashid, Harry Brook all got dismissed in the same pattern. The ball gets edge and hits wickets. Out of 10, 4 players are out in this pattern. This type of dismissal is unfortunate.
England scored a total of 214 runs for 34.2 overs with the loss of 10 wickets. India got a margin of victory of 142 runs.

At least the middle order would have scored better. We know they do not win and it’s very hard to chase 359 targets. But they could have reached a nearby score. Harshit Rana who was a crucial player and was successful in taking J Butter and H Brook’s wickets .

Coming to the bowling of India, A Singh, H Rana, A Patel, H Pandya has taken two wickets each. K Yadav and W Sundar have taken one wicket each. India successfully bought England down and won 3rd ODI with the margin victory of 142 runs. India whitewashed England and won the series 3-0.
