India vs Bangladesh post match analysis. ICC champions trophy 2025.

Intro

Welcome to the latest updates. India vs Bangladesh is the second match in the ICC champions trophy. We did not expect any competition from Bangladesh. But Bangladesh showed their ability against India. Initially there was no competition at all. Later there was a twist in Bangladesh middle order batting.

When Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel got out and they left the catch of KL Rahul. It’s like when they left KL Rahul’s catch, the match went to India. If it was caught and KL Rahul got out, Bangladesh would be in a grip. They would be in a winning strategy.

Bangladesh’s comeback

What a comeback from Bangladesh! It was 35/5. They lost 5 wickets in the powerplay. And 6th wicket down at 43rd over. What a distance from 9th over to 43rd over. A total of 154 runs partnership between Jaker Ali and T Hridoy. It was a next level partnership. Indian bowlers got 3 overs chance consecutively, but did not get any wicket.

Post Match Analysis

The match was played in Dubai International Stadium. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first.

We thought that Bangladesh might choose bowling first. But unfortunately they chose batting with the thought of creating a huge target. As we know, it wont be a high scoring game, if Bangladesh chooses batting first.

The total target for India is 229 in 50 overs. There was a bad start for Bangladesh initially. It was 2/2. The first over was impacted by Mohammed Shami. Sahakar out for edge and caught by straight away to KL Rahul. Next the captain Shanto got out for Harshit Rana in the second over.

Consecutively 5 wickets are down for Bangladesh in powerplay. But the 6th wicket partnership developed a lot. T. Hasan was playing well. He scored 25 runs with a strike rate of 100. Axar Patel came and took him for the edge. He stood up for a while with the intention of not being out. But KL Rahul was very clear that it got an edge. The wicket credit has to go for KL Rahul. Because Axar Patel was not sure about the edge.

Axar Patel on an hat trick

Back to back wickets for Axar Patel. M Rahim also got out in the same manner. Axar was on the hat trick. But unfortunately Rohit Sharma dropped a catch. That was an easy catch according to Rohit Sharma’s standards. Rohit Sharma frustrated a lot. Axar Patel was disappointed a lot. Axar Patel missed a hat trick. Having a hat trick is rare. If this would have happened, it would have created a history.

What was the reason to build a 154 partnership?

Axar Patel has to stay with two wickets. If the third wicket got hawled, no partnerships were built. Many opportunities were given to Jaker Ali. KL Rahul missed a stump, Hardik Pandya missed the catch and captain Rohit Sharma also dropped a catch on the hat trick. So many opportunities were given.

The recovery was great. From 9th over to 43rd over, no wickets were hawled. No big runs for Bangladesh and no wickets for India. Hridoy was playing ball and the ball and was looking so cool. It was totally like practising both the Bangladesh players by the Indian team in the middle overs.

Hridoy century

Hridoy was on the crease consistently till the last over. He scored a century at the right time with a strike rate of 84.75. He played at a good strike rate. Strike rate will not matter here, because for 35 runs 5 wickets were down. He is the one who raised the score to 228.

Jaker Ali also contributed 68 in 114 balls and played an important role in building a partnership with T.Hridoy.

Indian bowling contribution

Shami took two wickets in the powerplay. He hawled S Sarkar and M Miraz for the edge. When it comes to ICC, the performance of Mohammad Shami goes to an extreme level. A total of 5 wickets are hawled by Shami in the first match against Bangladesh with an economy of 5.30. It was crucial to hawl main wickets and the job was done by Mohammad Shami.

Harshit Rana who was exclusively selected in the 1st match instead of Arshdeep Singh, has taken 3 wickets with an economic spell of 4. Axar Patel also took two wickets but unfortunately missed the hat trick.

The target to chase is 229. Here is the scorecard.

India came to chase down the target set by Bangladesh. As usual the opening was done by Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill. India made a strong attack in the powerplay. The opening partnership was 69 runs. Rohit Sharma went to play very aggressively and gave his wicket at the end of the powerplay. He was playing at a 100+ strike rate.

Virat Kohli also built a partnership with Shubhman Gill . Lot of expectations were kept on Virat Kohli. But he got out for just 22 runs.

Shubhman Gill century

Shubhman Gill was consistent throughout the game. He scored a massive century with a strike rate of 78.29. He decided to play till the last and did not care about his strike rate. He played very cool and composed. Hence he got a century and remained not out.
We have to appreciate Shubhman Gill to score the first century in the ICC champions trophy 2025. It’s memorable. As an opener his average is 63+.

We did not expect that India would lose many wickets as this was not a high score game. When the wickets were getting down, we thought that Bangladesh might come back again. But, KL Rahul and Shubhman Gill were successful in chasing against Bangladesh.
