IPL new rules. A golden badge to the KKR’s jersey
A new rule has been brought to the IPL 2025. Some people may like this and some may not like this. A golden badge has been bought for the first time in IPL. A golden badge will be placed on the KKR’s jersey while other franchises will have the usual white badge.
KKR, the defending champions won the IPL 2024 title. KKR has revealed their jersey. A golden badging can be seen on the ‘Tata IPL’ logo. A tata’s logo will be placed on the outside arms. The logo is usually in white colour. But in 2025 IPL, KKR will be having golden badging instead of white badge.
Why will KKR have golden badging? What was the reason?
In the previous season KKR won the IPL trophy. To know that they are defending champions and the team which won the IPL trophy in the previous season. A golden badging will be placed on their jersey.
Everyone knows that KKR has won in the previous season. No point of keeping any badge on their jersey. But why this badge? This is to bring motivation among players. It is like giving credits to the team which has won IPL in the previous season. The scene is based on motivation to players to win an IPL trophy.
Keeping a golden badge makes sense?
We all know that KKR is a defending champion. It doesn’t make sense in bringing partiality among IPL teams. It would be better if all the jerseys are in a neutral state. Because of golden badging, it’s very foolish to think that it motivates players, teams, franchises etc. Whatever BCCI has bought this rule which actually doesn’t make any sense.
What does KKR’s jersey look like? A comparison to other IPL team jerseys.
We know that KKR has revealed their jersey. In this season it is unique in having a golden tag which indicates that they are champions in the previous season. We can see the image of how it looks.
The jersey looks like a patch work. It doesn’t look like appreciating. KKR’s jersey is usually in violet colour. The same colour will be followed in IPL 2025 with a golden tag. All the main players of KKR other than the players who are playing the Champions trophy i.e.Venkatesh Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rinku Singh etc. were assembled for the photoshoot with their new jersey.
When compared to other jerseys like RCB, MI, CSK, KKR’s jersey is inferior. It doesn’t meet all the expectations when compared to other jerseys. Whatever the patch work, colour, and golden tag is somewhat different and looks good. To see the actual look of the jersey on the ground, all should wait till March 22.
KKR officially announced a new captain to the franchise.
A new update, KKR finally announced their new captain. KKR vs RCB will be the first match playing on 22nd March 2025. We thought it would be Rajat Patidar vs Venkatesh Iyer. But it’s not.
It is a twist to everyone. It is totally opposite to the expectations.
What did Venky Mysore say about the captaincy of KKR?
” We are delighted to have someone like Ajinkya Rahane, who brings his experience and maturity as leader. Venkatesh Iyer has been a franchise player for KKR and brings a lot of leadership qualities. We are confident that they will combine well as we start the defence of our title”
The captain of KKR was kept in suspense. We thought it would be Venkatesh Iyer. But unfortunately Venkatesh Iyer remained as a player playing for the same franchise. We thought that new captains will be debuting for the first match i.e Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer. Rajat Patidar is officially confirmed from RCB but KKR gave a twist and confirmed officially Ajinkya Rahane as the new captain
Venkatesh Iyer was sold to KKR for 23.75 crores in an IPL 2025 mega auction. But KKR management did not give captaincy to Venkatesh Iyer. They gave the position of being Vice-captain to the team. He is a young player, not even crossed 30. Recently he was passing many messages that he is confident in leading the team as a captain if KKR management chooses him. It seems he desires a lot to become the captain of KKR.
Who is the new captain of KKR? What made him select as a captain.?
It’s Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of KKR for the IPL 2025. He went unsold in the first round of the IPL mega auction. Later he sold to KKR for 1.5 crores. He was not a sure player to buy for the captaincy. KKR was doubtful in buying Rahane. And now the captaincy has been given to him. In domestic cricket like the Ranji trophy Rahane led the team well as a captain.
When it comes to IPL stats (Rahane being captain of the team). He led Rajasthan Royals and Raising Pune Supergaints for a few seasons as a captain. Overall 25 matches Rahane led the team as a captain and the majority of the matches went to Rajasthan Royals. Out of which 9 matches have been won and the remaining 16 matches are lost. The winning percentage is 36%. It is not that convincing.
It was a question that Ajinkya Rahane will come in playing 11. He performed well in the Syed Mustaq Ali trophy, a domestic cricket. He scored convincing runs. This might have given him the confidence. Because of this KKR might have chosen Ajinkya Rahane as the captain.
In 2019, Rajastan Royals removed Ajinkya Rahane as the captain in the midway and chose some other players as the captain. He did not look convincing and RR rid him of the captaincy. A 36 year old Ajinkya Rahane was not in the list of expectations. It is a great twist in choosing him as a captain. A player who took 23.75 crores did not get a chance for being captain but the player who got 1.5 crores leading the team as a captain. It is much more surprising than anything.
Why did KKR not choose Venkatesh Iyer as a captain?
It’s not about the worth of a player bought in a mega auction. It’s about who leads the team well as a captain. KKR management might have thought that Venkatesh Iyer may not be capable. Still he has to evolve a lot or he has to learn a lot. They have announced Venkatesh Iyer as a vice captain, one day it’s very sure that KKR will choose him as a captain.
According to the previous stats, Ajinkya Rahane did not look convincing as the captain. That is in 2019 and now again he is coming as a captain after 6 years. Let’s hope Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team well .
